Skin Detox: How to Holistically Reset Your Skin

Everyday we're exposed to the likes of stress, artificial blue lights, environmental pollutants, and various skincare and household cleaning products. We may not notice it in the day-to-day, but over time, these can take a toll on our skin. Leaving it dull, congested and lacklustre. That's why it's important to give your skin a detox every so often, to help your skin restore it's healthy, glowing appearance. We look at easy ways to help give your skin the detox it could be singing out for.

 

Cleanse from within

It should go without saying, detoxifying starts from the inside out. Nourish your body with a balanced and nutrient-rich diet. Fill your plate up with antioxidant-rich foods like fruits, vegetables and green tea to help fight free radicals and support skin health. Stay hydrated with plenty of water and salt to flush out toxins and maintain skin hydration.

Practice stress management 

When we're stressed, it shows. But modern life has us pulled in at least 20 different directions at any given time. So the best thing to do, is incorporate stress management techniques into your daily life for some relief. Mediation, yoga and breathing exercises are a great place to start. Light to moderate exercise is also a great stress buster. Be sure to take some time for self-care activities that relax you and calm your mind. If this means laying in bed for hours watching Netflix, if it helps you unwind, so be it! There's no guilt here!

Beauty sleep

We hear this one all the time. And deep down, we know it. So why do we insist on staying up all night on TikTok or reliving the days events?!!! Quality sleep is crucial for your skins rejuvenation and repair time. In fact it's crucial for the rejuvenation and repair of all your body's cells. Aim for 8 hours of quality sleep each and every night. Create a relaxing winddown routine. Put your phone away, enjoy a nice warm shower, do your skincare routine, stretch a little, read a book or turn on some meditation. Make sure your room is comfortable, dark and free from noise and smart device distractions. Woosahhh.

Simplify your skincare routine
